Management agrees to pay requisite fee

VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation on Tuesday served notices to Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam for constructing Mallikharjuna Mahamandapam and a dormitory at Jammidoddi without submitting building plans to it. The temple management asked the corporation not to stop the works keeping in view of the larger public interest. The management told the corporation that it would pay the requisite fee.

The Corporation issued notices to Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam some time ago under Section 452 of the HMC Act, 1955 and Section 45(1) and 43(1) of the Andhra Pradesh Urban Areas (Development) Act, 1975. The corporation officials informed the VMC general body regarding these facts in response to a question raised by Congress corporator Buddha Jagannadham.
