DM visits city to ensure sanitation

PNS | Dehradun

In order to ensure the required level of civic sanitation in the town, the Dehradun District Magistrate Sachin Kurve visited various localities in different municipal wards along with the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (MNA) Indu Dhar Baurai, Additional Nagar Adhikari Harak Singh Rawat and Senior City Health officer Dr Gurpal Singh on Thursday.

While inspecting the areas in various wards, he pointed out that the municipal drainage system had become choked at many places during the rainy season in addition to which weeds growing on the sides of sewers were obstructing drainage of water.

He directed MCD officials to ensure clearing of the chocked drains obstructing flow of dirty water in to the civic drainage network. Kurve further pointed out the spread of diseases like dengue and malaria.

The main reason of the spread of such diseases is lack of sanitation. The stagnant water in chocked drains and puddles increases the risk of such diseases by providing an ideal breeding ground for pests.

The DM stressed that officials of the MCD should ensure spraying of required medicines to prevent breeding of mosquitoes in stagnant water in different areas of the town without delay.

The DM and MCD officials inspected the level of civic sanitation in various areas of different municipal wards including DL Road, Cement Road, DAV College Road, Nashvilla Road, Kishannagar and Kaulagarh among others.
