Palike officials told to prepare DPR
Bangalore, October 19, DHNS:
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Siddaiah carried out an inspection of Kempambudi tank, along with local Corporator Chandrashekar on Monday.
According to Palike officials, the commissioner has directed the BBMP officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) by next month, for the construction of a sedimentation tank beside the water body.Since the water body has too many inlets, sewage water has been entering the tank, polluting one of the oldest water bodies of the City.
With the onset of monsoon, de-silting work in the lake had come to a standstill.
Tenders were called to award contracts for cleaning the lake which had accumulated silt upto six feet. At present, silt to a height of two-and-a-half feet which was emanating foul smell in the tank remains to be cleaned, the officials stated.
