Work on to give Kempambudhi lake a facelift

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner Siddaiah carried out an inspection on Monday to see the progress of work at Kempambudhi Kere (lake), near Vivekananda Ashrama, in the city.

De-silting work and other developmental works are being carried out by the Palike at this lake.

The local corporator has also requested that a sedimentation tank be installed at the lake.

A BBMP official, on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media, said a Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be ready within a month for setting up the sedimentation tank.

The official said there were many inlets through which sewage water flows into the lake along with the rain water.

A sedimentation tank will help clean the water before it flows into the lake.

The corporator reportedly explained the advantages of setting up the tank at the lake while making the request.

Another official, who did not want to be named, said there were a few obstacles before the de-silting works. The rain has made mobility for lorries and vehicles difficult, he said, but added that work would continue.

The Palike has also reportedly explored the possibilities of introducing boating facilities and other leisure activities at the lake to keep it clean and useful to the public.
