2,000 completion certificates not taken, PCMC issues notices

PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation ( PCMC) has issued 2,000 notices to builders and house owners, who have not taken completion certificates.

Speaking to TOI, Dilip Kudale, co-ordinator, engineering department, said the notices were served over the last three months. Kudale said, "Majority of the notices went to individuals, while 80 builders have also been served notices."

They sought building permission before starting the construction but failed to take the completion certificate, said Kudale. Notices have issued to those who have failed to collect the certificates since 1970.

According to Kudale, "Some people leave the construction midway, due to lack of funds, and do not seek completion certificate since they have not completed construction as per the building plan. In some cases, people take part-completion certificates and are not given completion certificate as they have not completed construction. And then, there are those who forget, especially if they have not built the house themselves".

"Last week, a meeting, under the chairmanship of municipal commissioner Ashish Sharma, was held with the 80 builders. They were instructed to take the completion certificates at the earliest", said Kudale.
