Two hostel kitchens sealed by GHMC

HYDERABAD: The Health and Sanitation wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) carried out surprise inspections in hostel kitchens in Ameerpet.

Two kitchens of hostels were sealed, as they were found posing danger to public health with unhygienic conditions and running the establishment without having valid trade license.

The sealed kitchens are of M/s Satyasai Women’s hostel and M/s Manjeera hostel in Ameerpet.

29 hostels in all, both men and women’s were inspected by two special teams consisting of assistant medical officers of health and food inspectors.

Seven hostels were prosecuted for violating Bye-Laws of the HMC for the regulation of eating houses (or) hotels 1973.

They are M/s Basheer’s Executive Women’s hostel, M/s Nirmala’s Executive Women’s hostel, M/s Anoo’s Ladies Executive Inn, M/s Vatsalya Men’s hostel, M/s Sai Chandra Executive Men’s hostel, (6) M/s Sri Sai Chandra Executive Boy’s hostel and M/s JG hostel, all located in the posh Shiv Bagh area of Ameerpet.

Notices were also issued to six eateries to rectify defects found. The GHMC has directed all hostel managements to maintain their kitchens in hygienic condition and obtain trade license.

They should provide wholesome drinking water and serve freshly prepared food to hostelries.
