Two CMC officers suspended

Chamarajanagar, November 28, DHNS :

Two officers of the City Municipal Council (CMC) were placed under suspension pending inquiry on charges of dereliction of duty.

The suspended officers are Mercy Riya, manager and Manikya Raju, a first grade assistant. They have been charged of committing a mistake in registering a site in Survey number 32 of Gaalipura.

According to a press release here, while a fee of ` 1.15 lakh has been paid, using the help of ink and whitener the amount has been changed to a mere `  5,000.

The site in questions belongs to Ziaulla. The officials have allegedly registered the site without verifying the documents. Due to this action, the CMC has suffered a loss to the tune of `  1.10 lakh.

The CMC Commissioner has urged the Deputy Commissioner to take stern action against the guilty employees.

The Programme Director of the District Urban Development has been instructed to conduct an inquiry into the issue. DC K Amaranarayana has already suspended the officials.
