Standing committee head visits city’s wards

BANGALORE: The Ward works standing committee chairman in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) L Srinivas inspected many localities in East Bangalore on Monday.

He, on his inspection, directed Assistant Executive Engineers to ensure that all 'spill over' projects under taken by them be completed before December 25.

He said that once these are completed then they can start with the works mentioned in the current budget. He visited Castle street and checked on the road, that had been dug up by BESCOM recently to lay a 11 KV line.

The road had been in a dismal state as the electricity board did not take up the responsibility of restoring the road after completion of their works.

He said that all civic agencies should coordinate with other agencies at the ward level. The AEE's pointed out that repeated attempts to bring the dismal conditions of the road to the contractors had proved futile.

Admitting that there were lapses in supervision, Shiv Shankar, Joint Commissioner (East) said that the contractors who were responsible for the lapses would be blacklisted. The members visited Vannarpet, Domlur and other areas as well. Domlur Corporator Geeta Srinivas Reddy asked the Chairman to provide parking space for the locals at a garbage segregation unit.

She said that there was adequate space there to accommodate vehicles and the Chairman directed officials to act on the same.

The team found many areas with stagnation, incomplete works on shoulder drains and other issues with other civic agencies.
