Chandigarh:  Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria took a serious note of the delay in completion of green belts in various sectors of the city. Dr Sunkaria along with other officials of the MC on Tuesday visited the green belts in the city that are being developed by the Municipal Corporation. In the proposed green belt in Sector 56, the Commissioner expressed his concern at the snail pace of work and it was apprised by the horticulture wing that the supply of water has been recently arranged by the Public Health wing and due to winter season the grass could not be sown. It would take another three months to develop the green belt completely. It would be ready for inauguration by March 2011.

The greenbelt in Sector 51 was also inspected. The Commissioner expressed concern for not having developed this green belt till now. He stated that he had visited the greenbelt around a year and a half back. He said that action would be taken against the defaulting contractor who has failed to provide the footpath in time.
