Bangalore: Deputy Mayor N. Dayanand on Monday inspected works taken up under 22.75 per cent scheme in Govindarajanagar Assembly Constituency.
He first visited Arundhatinagar slum in Nagarbhavi ward where he found that the slum lacked a proper drainage system and public toilets. The residents complained about the severe drinking water shortage. They also claimed that though they had been living in the slum for the past 17 years, the authorities concerned were yet to issue title deeds.
Mr. Dayanand directed officials to utilise the Rs. 470 crore funds under the 22.75 per cent scheme. He said that funds could be utilised to provide basic amenities in slum areas, including construction of toilets, proving drinking water and power supply and better housing.
Later, he visited Hoysala Nagar and Nayandahalli and received memorandums from residents with regard to issue of ration cards, title deeds, improvement of roads and drains. He inspected the encroachments on BBMP property and directed officials to remove them immediately.
Councillors H.S. Rajeshwari and K. Umesh Shetty, and BBMP officials were present.
