AMC seals 123 more properties

AHMEDABAD: A number of buildings in the city were sealed on Monday for illegal construction, defunct fire safety systems and encroachment. AMC is hastening the process of sealing before the December 22 deadline issued by Gujarat high court. Nearly 123 properties were sealed on Monday, according to AMC officials.

AMC's west zone office carried out a string of demolitions near Acher village on Sabarmati Road on Monday amid police protection. Nearly 60 residences and 20 commercial workshops were razed during this drive. In the south zone, at least 12 units in Golden Plaza were sealed for illegal construction and will be demolished in the coming days. Nearly 22 units were sealed in Sahajanand Complex in Shahibaug for lack of fire safety system. In the new west zone, in Thaltej, certain encroaching structures constructed in the margin area by Hotel Country Inn were razed. At Iscon Centre near Shivranjini, three structures were pulled down in the parking lot. In Indrajeet Society in Thakkarbapanagar, residents demolished at least five structures on their own.
