Prakasam Collector inspects roads

ONGOLE: Prakasam District Collector Kantilal Dande, Special Officer in-charge of Ongole Municipality on Tuesday made extensive visit in the town to address the issues of perennial problem of vehicular traffic and encroachments.

The Collector along with Municipal Commissioner S Ravindra Babu and other officials inspected the roads to ascertain whether their width were in conformity with master plan or not.

He directed the civic officials to clear the road leading to the Railway station road from the Church centre of encroachments to widen it to 10 metres as against eight metres now.

DThe Collector also inspected the Sundaraiah bhavan road where an encroacher had constructed a wall encroaching upon municipal land.

The civic officials informed the Collector that the civic body had identified encroachments in 52 places and issued notices to violators. It was found that shops were coming up in cellars meant for vehicle parking in commercial complexes.

The Collector asked the civic officials concerned to act sternly against errant traders.

The Collector also discussed with Ongole Circle Inspector U Nagaraju and other police officials on traffic jams near the RTC bus stand and suggested alternative routes to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
