Blacklist contractor: BBMP team

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) Standing Committee for Major Works is mulling to write to Commissioner Siddaiah to issue showcause notices to a contractor and Chief Engineer (Storm water Drains) for the inordinate delay in construction of a bridge over a rajakaluve on New BEL Road.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, committee chairperson H Ravindra said contractor Madhava Hytech had failed to completed several projects taken up across the city in time. He said the contractor had been asked to respond within seven days on why he should not be blacklisted.

He said the Chief Engineer had failed to coordinate with the other civic agencies, including Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, to shift the water pipelines and electricity cables. The delay in shifting was one of the reasons for the delay in completion of the project.

"We have directed the contractor to ensure that within a month, the approach road is opened for traffic and retaining walls for the rajakaluve are constructed. We will inspect the spot again in 15 days time to check on the progress of work," he said.
