Zonal system to be fully operational from Aug. 15

The decentralisation of the working of the corporation to give better services to people should begin experimentally from July 20 and should be fully operational from August 15.

Addressing a meeting of the zone commissioners on Thursday, Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu said powers, including financial, would be delegated to them. Budget would be consolidated after taking zone requirements. A zone office should function with all wings under one umbrella. For sixth zone, an office should be established at Vepagunta. Zone commissioners should hold grievance redress programmes and also should grant leaves and increments.

In every zone priority should be given to construction of a park, indoor stadium and kalyanamantapam. For small repairs, contractors should be done away with and two, three masons engaged. For maintenance of streetlights qualified local youth should be taken.
