GHMC orders seizure of Medwin Hospitals
GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu has ordered the seizure of offices of the Medwin Hospitals like the out-patient block, reception, director’s room and other movable property.
The action plan was decided when it was brought to his notice that a cheque for Rs. 40 lakh paid by the hospital had bounced last year for payment of property tax.
“The Deputy Commissioner concerned has been asked to take a follow-up action if the hospital does not pay,” Additional Commissioner (Finance) K. Ashok Reddy said on Tuesday.
The civic body had already put senior officers to monitor the chronic tax defaulters. Property tax collection for the year so far has been Rs. 530 crore and final target by next month-end is Rs. 800 crore.
Last year the collection was Rs.634 crore, said Mr. Reddy.
