1,249 KDA plots illegally occupied

KANPUR: Investigations revealed that as many as 1,249 plots of Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) have been illegally occupied.

KDA is planning to get those plots vacated and take possession. Three commercial plots of 356 square metres had been traced. On one occupier was different from the allottee while in three plots as many as 49 illegal occupants were residing. The value of the land is in crores.

At Panki, Kakadeo and Jajmau, plots were registered in the name of other persons than the allottees through nexus of clerks and brokers.

According to KDA officials, majority of illegal occupiers belong to lower sections of the society and they would be rehabilitated under Kanshiram Awasiya scheme.

The KDA vice-chairman asked the officials to check the sealed buildings. There were reports that construction work was going on in sealed buildings. Some residents had mailed pictures of the ongoing construction work in the sealed buildings. There were reports of construction activities in sealed buildings at Civil Lines, Gwaltoli, Ram Bagh, Shyamnagar, Lal bungalow and Jajmau.

The vice-chairman had convened a meeting last week and asked the zonal heads to submit a report about vacant commercial plots under various schemes so that these could be sold. The officials were instructed to execute sale deed in favour of allottees who had deposited the full amount and send notices to defaulters and initiate cancellation measures.
