MC to auction buildings with pending house tax

Bringing out its last weapon to recover house tax from building owners, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation would now auction the buildings and after recovering the house tax amount, the remaining money would be paid to the owner, stated P S Ghuman, zonal commissioner, Zone B, on Wednesday.

He added that a committee comprising six members had been formed to look into the auction of buildings with pending house tax. The work of the government approved valuer will be to set the reserved price of the property, as per market value for the auction. The civic body is set to initiate the system to recover house tax of 10 buildings in Zone-B, which amounts to nearly Rs 35.45 lakh.

"A short term notice for auction will be issued and after auction, if the MC has Rs 25,000 pending as house tax, after recovering the amount, the balance will be given to the owner," Ghuman added.
