Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation warns citizen of hot days ahead

AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in a warning to the residents has indicated that for the next six days, up to May 21, temperatures are going to vary between 41 degrees Celsius and 43.4 degree Celsius.

The heat alert system of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) indicates that such days are classified 'Hot Day' on the alert system. Citizens are advised to venture out less and drink adequate fluids. The AMC is the only corporation in the country that beams heat alerts for citizens . The system is being designed by the Indian Institute for Public health, Gandhinagar. Shortly, the AMC would start an SMS service for the alert system.

Meanwile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Coporation (AMC) has started collecting samples from various food stalls in the city. The AMC has already collected 1,230 food samples from various parts of the city. Of the 134 samples that were taken in the last few days, 59 samples are of ice-cream. Out of these at least four ice-cream brands have been identified to be sub-standard.
