BBMP to rein in ad agencies
The BBMP has decided to rein in the
advertisement agencies which have put up hoardings and advertisement
boards illegally across the City, causing a loss of about Rs 150 crore
annually to the Palike.
During a review meeting held on
Monday, Commissioner Siddaiah told officials to display advertisements
having the names of the defaulters and register cases against them as
was done recently with Alesh Collection. He also suggested drum-beating
drive in front of the offices of major defaulters.
He asked his
officials to check whether the jewellers who have put up flexes and
hoardings across the City have necessary permission. If the
advertisements were illegal then the jewellers must pay the rent and
taxes. He also suggested to introduce SAS system for collecting
advertisement taxes.
