PCMC seeks responses to voters' list for bypoll

PUNE: The PimpriChinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has invited suggestions and objections regarding the primary voters' list for the byelection to be held for ward no 35A, BhosariGaothan. Citizens can submit their responses till May 28.

The state election department had directed the PCMC to prepare the voters' list for the byeklection. The primary list is now available for inspection in the election department in the PCMC's main office building and at the 'C' zone office in Nehrunagar, Pimpri, during office hours. The list is also on sale at these offices.

The department said citizens may submit written applications with their suggestion/objection to the designated officer, Bhosari, in his office with required proof, in person or through a representative, during office hours.

The civic election department has asked persons with disabilities to provide information such as their names, the part number in the voters' list and their serial number to the designated officer, Bhosari, before May 28. This is to ensure that they are allotted polling booths located on the ground floor.

The final voters' list for ward 35 will be published on June 7. It will be sold in CDs to citizens and can be accessed on the PCMC's website: www.pcmcindia.gov.in.

Election department administration officer Baba Bagal said, "There are 17,101 voters in the primary voters' list. The byelection is being held as former corporator Seema Phuge was disqualified for submitting a fake caste validity certificate in the February

2012 civic elections. This seat is reserved for women belonging to the OBC category."
