GHMC told to respond on illegal slaughter houses

Legal Correspondent

A Division Bench of the A.P. High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice N. V. Ramana on Monday asked the authorities concerned of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to respond to complaints of illegal slaughtering of animals on the roads and encroachments on these roads at Ziaguda in Hyderabad.

Writ petition

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by D. Santosh Kumar and Rajender Kumar, residents of Ziaguda, who complained that goats, and other animals were being slaughtered on the roads and the waste was being dumped into the Musi river by the slaughter house owners.

The petitioners said the roads were being encroached by them and the GHMC officials had not responded on their complaints.

The Bench felt actions like this had to be dealt with and adjourned the case for the response of the GHMC.
