ALLAHABAD: Allahabad Municipal Corporation and Allahabad Development Authority jointly conducted a demolition drive in Civil Lines on Tuesday. Ten shops were razed to the ground during the drive conducted under adequate police force.

The demolition paraphernalia, comprising bulldozers, JCB machines and trucks, reached Sardar Patel Marg of Civil Lines.

Four shops allotted by Allahabad Development Authority were also demolished. Later, the demolition squad proceeded towards the Stanley Road where several shops were razed to the ground. About three shops near Beli Hospital were bulldozed.

Later, the demolition squad reached PD Tandon Crossing. There are about 24 small shops of Allahabad Municipal Corporation at this crossing. As stay order has been issued for 21 out of the 24 shops, only three were razed to the ground.
