Birth certificates at people's doorstep soon

Digital birth certificates will be sent directly to the houses of the needy through courier service free of cost from June 10. Mayor M Majid Hussain will launch the programme on Monday.

Announcing this to newsmen here on Thursday, the Mayor said that the birth certificates would also provide the vaccination schedule for the infants so that the parents could take them to the vaccination centres at the appointed time.

The vaccination centres would also alert the parents about the vaccination a day before on the mobile phone.

He said that the new scheme would help the needy as they were facing a lot of problems in securing the birth certificates from the GHMC Circle/ Ward Offices, etc.

Speaking on the occasion, GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu stated that this was the first time that such an innovative programme was being taken up by the GHMC and added that it was part of the GHMC’s moves to provide better services to the citizens.

The commissioner said that the GHMC would send death certificates also through courier service free of cost soon. The certificates would also carry condolence messages. The procedures for the same were being streamlined now, he added.
