Mayor inspects pumping stations

ALLAHABAD: Work done under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission ( JNNURM) programme in the city was presented before the members of the executive council on Tuesday. Mayor Abhilasha Gupta was also present.

Officers of Jal Nigam informed the council about water supply works done in phase I and phase II. They also informed about the areas where water pipelines were laid. The officer also detailed about the solid waste management plan and the sewage works done in the city. Officers of Jal Nigam, Allahabad Municipal Corporation and Jal Sansthan were also present in the meeting..

Meanwhile, mayor Abhilasha Gupta inspected various pumping stations on Tuesday for first hand information on preparations of Jal Sansthan and Allahabad Municipal Corporation to tackle waterlogging.

She inspected Morigate and Gaughat pumping stations and monitored the condition of pumps. There are about 13 pumps at the Morigate pumping station in which seven were operated by electricity while the rest operated on diesel.

The junior engineer at Gaughat pumping station said that there were about four electric pumps at the station. The mayor monitored the functioning of pumps. She also ordered that adequate arrangements be made for lights across the river so that people do not face problems.
