GHMC demolishes 13 old buildings

A day after the building collapse on the busy RP Road in Secunderabad, in which 17 persons dead and scores injured, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) finally woke up from slumber and started demolishing dilapidated buildings in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, demolition of a dozen old buildings has been taken up in different parts of the city and the exercise would continue for a few days. Joint inspections carried out by the town planning and engineering teams have identified as many as 154 buildings as old and dilapidated, which need to be demolished immediately.

Municipal corporation teams demolished buildings in Uppal Budvel (2), Rajendranagar (2), Mangalhat (1),  Hill Fort Road (1), Adarsh Nagar (1) Old Bowenpally (2), Qutbullapur (3) and Monda Market (1).
