Govt may dissolve H-K Development Board

The State government may dissolve the Hyderabad Karnataka Development Board (HKDB) in the wake of special status given to Hyderabad Karnataka region under the Article 371(J) of the Constitution.

Indicating this at a general body meeting of the HKDB here on Wednesday, Minister for Information Technology and Bio-technology S R Patil said the Board may not continue in the present form once the provisions of the Article 371(J) are implemented.

He also ruled out providing an office to the HKDB at Vidhana Soudha.

Action plan approved

At the meeting, the general body approved the action plan of the Board for the year 2013-14.

Following a demand from MLCs that they be given development funds on a par with MLAs, Patil assured that he would provide the funds under his discretionary quota. Patil, who holds the Planning portfolio, is also the chairman of HKDB.
