The GHMC Standing Committee members on Thursday expressed their dissatisfaction over road maintenance works in the city and non-implementation of various resolutions by the engineering staff. At a review meeting attended by Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain and Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu, the members took objection to the functioning style of engineers and said the resolutions of the committee and general body were not being implemented.

The Commissioner asked the Engineer-in-Chief to look into the matter and said that though specific instructions were given to the superintendent engineers for a regular review every month, the same was not being followed. There was need to issue memos to the engineers to inculcate discipline, he said.

Mr. Krishna Babu added that a stretch wise study of lapses would be taken up by appointing a consultant for laying permanent roads.

The Mayor on Thursday inspected the government schools at Hasham Compound and Idgah apart from the community hall at Bada Bazar. The Mayor sought the intervention of the Collector in addressing the objections raised by the Defence authorities at Hasham Compound School and at the Idgah School.
