Officials warned against laxity in sanitation

KANPUR: Irked over heaps of garbage littered all over the city, municipal commissioner D K Singh in a meeting on Friday stressed on prioritizing sanitation. He ordered officials to ensure that roads were swept by 10am and the garbage lifted by 2pm. In a stern warning to zonal officers and others, Singh said that he would personally inspect the wards to take stock of cleanliness and initiate strict action against laxity.

During the meeting officials also raised the issue of non-cooperation by A2Z. Replying to the concern, A2Z representative Anil Sindoor said that his organization was using all available resources at its disposal to dispose garbage. He assured that the resources would soon be enhanced.

Addressing officials, Singh said that though sanitation time was 8 am to 2 pm, area must be cleaned and swept by 10am. He asked officials to prepare a register of each ward and enter names of sanitation supervisor and employees. He also directed them to prepare a weekly roster for proper execution.

He also asked the zonal health officers to upload employees' attendance of their respective zones in computer. For timely disbursement of salary, Singh said departments must submit salary bills by 24th and present it by 27th day of the month. The accounts department had to make arrangements that salary of each employee must be transferred into the accounts of employees by first of the month.
