Pune Municipal Corporation to hand over 15 vehicles to transport department

PUNE: The standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation ( PMC) on Tuesday decided to hand over 15 of its unused vehicles to Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).

"The PMPML is facing shortage of vehicles like cars and jeeps, which has affected the work of its officials and employees. The administration had given us the proposal to hand over these vehicles to PMPML," said Vishal Tambe, chairman of the committee, while speaking with reporters.

A team of officers from the utility also visited the depot and checked the vehicles which are between eight and 20 years old. The PMPML will carry out the repairs.

The civic body has around 920 vehicles in the depot. These vehicles include dumpers and tippers, jeeps, cars, electrical vehicles and ambulances. It will auction some vehicles which have completed their average life span.
