Special Correspondent

Schools will be handed over to Delhi Public School for day-to-day maintenance

The State Labour Ministry has proposed to set up a residential school in all the eight city corporations in the State to cater to the needs of children of industrial workers. Minister of State for Labour P.T. Parameshwara Naik told reporters on Wednesday the Labour Department would construct school buildings and provide basic facilities to children, and Rs. 30 crore would be spent on developing each school. The schools would be handed over to Delhi Public School (DPS), Bangalore, for day-to-day maintenance and admissions.

Further, Mr. Naik said the schools would provide education from classes 5 to 12 free of cost. Admissions would be open from June 2014 and intake would be decided after consultations with experts, said Mr. Naik. He added that the authorities had been told to identify land for schools.
