Mayor inspects procession route

NASHIK: Mayor Yatin Wagh on Monday inspected the traditional Ganesha idol immersion procession route and instructed the officials to remove encroachments and fill potholes on the route.

Wagh inspected the route with local corporators Gulzar Kokni, Sameena Memon, Sufiyan Jin, divisional chairman of the Nashik East division Vandana Shewale, deputy municipal commissioner (anti-encroachment) R M Bahiram, city engineer Sunil Khune, deputy commissioner of police Sahebrao Patil and others. He inspected the spots from Chowk Mandai to Bhadrakali Bhaji Market, Gadge Maharaj Statue, Dhumal Point and M G Road to Sangli Bank signal on the route.

He also instructed the officials to clear garbage and low-lying cables on the route.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation had earlier said that the potholes on the route would be filled before the immersion procession. "Most of the potholes have been filled. Only a few have been exposed due to heavy rainfall in the last few days. We will fill them on Tuesday," said a civic body engineer on the condition of anonymity.

"Encroachments can be removed in a day. There aren't many potholes on the route, but they will also be filled," Shewale said.
