Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to set up citizen facilitation centres in 20 wards

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will be starting citizen facilitation centres (CFCs) in 20 wards of the municipal limits.

Municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi has prepared a 10-point programme to make the civic administration more "people-oriented", transparent and able to provide better facilities to PCMC citizens. One of the features of the 10-point programme is e-governance, under which the civic body proposes to start CFCs in all of its 64 wards.

The proposal for launching these centres will be discussed at the standing committee meeting on Tuesday. The proposal states that Pimpri Chinchwad is known as an industrial and educational hub, with large-scale growth in its urbanisation. The municipal commissioner has expressed the desire to create one CFC in each of the 64 wards in the city by developing open lands for providing basic amenities and international level services to the PCMC residents.

There are five such centres now, including four in each of the four zones and one at the central level at the municipal corporation. The services provided by PCMC as well as those provided by the Regional Transport Office(RTO), state transport, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), the police and the district collectorate will be available at these CFCs at fixed charges.

Uday Tekale, assistant commissioner and chief of the PCMC's administration department confirmed that the civic administration will be starting CFCs in 20 wards. "The civic body will be appointing an agency to execute the plan soon," Tekale said.
