Pimpri Chinchwad corporation proposes industrial licence fee from dispensaries, hospitals

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has proposed to collect industrial licence fees from hospitals and clinics in the municipal limits. The civic administration in a proposal forwarded to the standing committee says the corporation collects industrial licence fees from industries and factories. However, it does not collect any fees from hospitals and clinics.

The corporation said that there are approximately 5000 units such as dispensaries, clinics, laboratories, consultation centres, veterinary clinics, physiotherapy units, and other centres providing medical services to citizens. There are about 770 clinics and dispensaries, with different bed capacities. For clinics and dispensaries having up to ten beds, an annual fee of Rs 1000 is proposed to be collected. For clinics and dispensaries having 11 to 49 beds, an annual fee of Rs 2000 has been proposed. Similarly, for clinics and dispensaries having 50 to 100 beds, a fee of Rs 4000 has been proposed. For units having beds between 101 to 499, a fee of Rs 10,000 is to be collected. Units having more than 500 beds will be charged Rs 25000.

A fine of 10 % of the fee is proposed to be charged per month if the fee is not deposited be-tween April 1 to June 30. PCMC hopes to collect about 31.66 lakh per year if the fee is collected.
