KR Market premises is clean by about 60 per cent: Mayor

Mayor B S Satyanarayana visited the KR Market premises during the eighth intensive cleaning drive conducted by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Monday.

Students of BBMP Kasturba College and artistes and employees of a private television channel joined the clean-up act. The two-and-a-half-hour activity was supervised by the Mayor, Y R Gowramma, BBMP Standing Committee (Markets), and other Palike members.
Satyanarayana expressed happiness over the changing face of KR Market and said the market’s condition in terms of waste management and cleanliness had improved. “The premises is clean by about 60 per cent,” he said.

The Mayor also recalled his meeting with Bharat Ratna awardee Professor C N R Rao during a recent felicitation ceremony. “Rao showed a lot of concern for the City and told me that the BBMP should take steps to restore the City to its glorious past, and give preference to solving the garbage crisis. He said the Palike should create more awareness among the public about effective garbage management,” Satyanarayana said.
