KR Market premises is clean by about 60 per cent: Mayor
Mayor B S Satyanarayana visited the KR Market
premises during the eighth intensive cleaning drive conducted by the
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Monday.
Students
of BBMP Kasturba College and artistes and employees of a private
television channel joined the clean-up act. The two-and-a-half-hour
activity was supervised by the Mayor, Y R Gowramma, BBMP Standing
Committee (Markets), and other Palike members.
Satyanarayana
expressed happiness over the changing face of KR Market and said the
market’s condition in terms of waste management and cleanliness had
improved. “The premises is clean by about 60 per cent,” he said.
The
Mayor also recalled his meeting with Bharat Ratna awardee Professor C N
R Rao during a recent felicitation ceremony. “Rao showed a lot of
concern for the City and told me that the BBMP should take steps to
restore the City to its glorious past, and give preference to solving
the garbage crisis. He said the Palike should create more awareness
among the public about effective garbage management,” Satyanarayana
said.
