BDA demolishes illegal five-storied building
BDA enforcement officer Deba Prasad Dash said the plot was allotted to a woman a few years back for business purpose by the General Administration (GA) Department. But the owner of the plot started erecting a building illegally violating the BDA guidelines.
“Despite our repeated orders, the owner did not stop the illegal construction. “We had even directed the owner to demolish the building. The owner did not respond to our orders, forcing us to begin the demolition,” said Dash, adding that the building would be completely demolished within five days.
One platoon of police force was deployed at the location to avoid any untoward incident.
Sources said the demolition of the building was one of the major drives against illegal constructions in the recent history of the BDA.
