Urgent report on illegal constructions sought

SURAT: Standing committee of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has asked for an urgent report on illegal constructions taking place in the city.

After the last date for application for regularization of illegal constructions under Impact fee regulation got over on August, 19, 2013, there is a spurt in illegal constructions in many zones of the city.

"Central zone of the city seems to be a favourite spot for builders where maximum illegal and unauthorized constructions are taking place. We have received large number of complaints." said Rajesh Desai, Chairman, standing committee. "We have demanded all the details and actions taken against these constructions from the concerned authorities. We can't tolerate any new unauthorized structures anymore." He added.

In Central zone of the city, number of complaints is registered where after obtaining permission to construct four storeys, builder or developer is seen constructing fifth illegal floor.

SMC authorities are contemplating large scale action in coming week against these unauthorized constructions.
