In a statement filed in response to a writ petition by one Renjith, the Corporation said it had been implementing a mosquito eradication programme known as ‘Bye Bye Mosquito.’

In wards

Under the programme, three workers had been deployed for mosquito control in each ward. The attempt of the Corporation was to eradicate the breeding of mosquitoes at source.

The Corporation said of the 1,125 people reportedly suffering from dengue fever in the district till June this year, 416 were living in the Corporation limits.

It was reported that till the end of June, 28 persons had died from dengue fever in the district. Of these, four persons lived in the Corporation limits.

Fogging

The Corporation had also taken steps under the supervision of health inspectors of each ward for indoor residual spraying, indoor space spraying, and fogging to eradicate mosquitoes.

There were no lapses on the part of the Corporation in taking effective steps to eradicate the mosquito menace.
