Kanpur Development Authority seals building for illegal construction

KANPUR: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA), on Tuesday, sealed a building at Anand Bagh locality for illegal construction.

The enforcement wing, under the leadership of Rakesh Kumar Yadav deputy city commissioner sealed the building owned by Arun Nigam. The wing had received complaints of illegal construction in the area and confirmed the reports after conducting a spot inspection.

KDA had sealed more than two hundred buildings for illegal construction this year and had recently transferred four junior engineers to other department who had been allegedly working hand in glove with builders and allowing them to continue construction even in sealed buildings.

Meanwhile, KDA is planning to vacate its 36 acre land of aloo mandi in O block. Engineering department had asked joint secretary to provide a bulldozer for the same. The land is being vacated to get possession of about 500 plots and collect revenue by registered deed to real allottees.

According to sources there are around 662 plots in O Block and all have been allotted.

But some encroachers have raised illegal plastic factories and other units there after fruit and vegetable mandi was shifted to Chakarpur.

Complaints against illegal occupants were made by a charitable society. Som Kamal joint secretary KDA apprised that as soon as they are provided with bulldozers, the illegal units will be removed from the land.
