Nagpur Municipal Corporation sets Feb 15 deadline for Itwari railway over bridge

NAGPUR: After a delay of more than two years, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has set the final deadline for the completion of Itwari railway over bridge (RoB) as February 15.

Mayor Anil Sole, along with civic body office bearers and MLAs Krishna Khopde and Vikas Kumbhare, inspected the ongoing works at the Rob. Sole inspected the work going on over railway line and also on approach roads.

Sole said asphalting of approach road from Zade Square, Bastarwari, has been completed. He asked the officials to execute installation of street lights on the road along with painting works and ducts. "These works should be completed by January 15 so that Rob can be opened to public on February 15," he directed the officials.

The central government had approved the project under JNNURM scheme on January 22, 2007, at the cost of Rs9 crore. The delay doubled the project cost due to which the NMC spent Rs20.76 crore on the project as on October 31. But, the final cost is likely to escalate by the time the works get completed.
