Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation seeks views on land reservation

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, which has proposed to construct a multi-functional cultural centre in Pimpri on the lines of the Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch in Pune, has invited suggestions and objections from citizens for modifications to be made in land reservation.

The land identified for the facility is reserved for a park and cultural centre in the development plan.

The multipurpose arts centre will be located at Morwadi in Pimpri. The open to air 3,000-seat auditorium will be built in two phases at a cost of Rs 80 crore. The project includes an amphitheatre, sculpture, entrance tower, an art gallery, cafeteria, education building, a 430-seat mini-theatre and a public plaza among other amenities. The land identified for the project is spread over 22,500 sq mtrs.

The municipal corporation on Wednesday issued a public notice inviting suggestions and objections on the proposed changes in land reservation. Citizens should submit their views with the municipal commissioner within a month. The general body meeting had approved a resolution last month to initiate the modification as required under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act.

The notice said that a copy of the modification has been kept open for public inspectin at the office of deputy director of town planning at the PCMC main building in Pimpri. The PCMC will consider the suggestions and objections before sending the proposal to the state government.
