CMC says ‘no’ to parking fee

Staff Correspondent

The City Municipal Council (CMC) has written to the Hassan District Advocates’ Association asking it stop collecting parking fee from vehicle owners in the premises of the association building.

The CMC has also appealed to the public not to pay parking fee while parking on the building premises, terming the association’s act against the law.

The Hindu had carried a report on public opposition to the parking fee.

CMC Commissioner V.H. Krishnamurthy told The Hindu on Wednesday that he had written to the association office-bearers and to the administrative officer of the district court regarding the issue.

“The association cannot collect a fee for parking vehicles in a public place,” he said.

Appeal to public

Further, the commissioner said he had issued a public awareness notice through the media, appealing to them not to pay the parking fee.
