VMC seizes houses

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) officials have confiscated flat Nos. 301 and 403 at Sri Lakshmi Land in Sitarampuram for not paying the property tax. The VMC also snapped water supply at Rokallapalem in Durgapuram (assessment No. 195497), according to Assistant Commissioner A. Nagakumari. She said that on Monday another house located on Durgaiah Street in 21A ward was also seized for non-payment of tax for the last four years.

The people should pay their taxes immediately to avoid such punishments under the Revenue Recovery Act, she said.

BWSSB to hold water adalats today

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will hold water adalats in different parts of the city on Tuesday between 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to settle grievances related to billing, delays in water supply and sanitary connections. According to a BWSSB release, the adalats will be held at the offices of the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) West 1 sub division, RPC Layout, AEE West-1 (Ph: 23500013); AEE, South East-1 sub division, Ulsoor, Ph: 22945159); and AEE South West-1 sub division at V.V. Puram. Ph: 22945193.

Special cleanup drive held in N’rangpur

In a bid to clean up Nabarangpur town, the district urban development authority launched a two-day special sanitation drive from Sunday.

Various institutions like the Sri Satyasai Seba Samiti, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Truck Owners’ Association, Bus Owners’ Association, petrol pumps, Maa Ghar, Prajapita Brahma Kumaris and DLCC participated in the drive in all the 17 wards.

The Municipality Executive Officer has allotted sweepers for the special sanitation campaign. District Collector Yamini Sarangi and ADM Bhimman Seth, along with other officials, supervised the cleaning operation. Sarangi said that ensuring cleanliness in the town is one of the top priorities.
