Civic body files complaint against shoe supplier

The education board of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has filed a complaint against a supplier who was given the tender to provide shoes to students in civic schools.

"The education board filed a complaint with Pimpri police on Wednesday. He was given the tender to supply Bata company shoes to schools. However, he supplied some other brand shoes which are sub-standard. We approached the commissioner who asked us to file a complaint," said Vijay Lokhande of education board.

"The supplier was not able to deliver shoes on time. He was given the work order in June and was supposed to deliver shoes within 60 days. But he made the delivery only in September after we issued him three notices. We are thinking of blacklisting him," added Lokhande. The shoes were supplied to 44,000 students between Class I and VII.

"The education board officials informed me about it. They told me the supplier provided sub-standard shoes in place of the branded shoes. Since I am in Mumbai, I have asked the additional commissioner to take appropriate action," said Shrikar Pardeshi, Municipal Commissioner, PCMC.

7 of 10 didn’t die of dengue: Civic body

A day after two health officials of the North corporation were suspended after the mayor was given a list of 10 suspected dengue cases, a medical board found that seven of the 10 deaths were not due to dengue. The board had been appointed to verify the treatment and diagnostic reports of the patients. The remaining cases are being evaluated.

"A list of 10 persons who died recently was sent to the North Delhi Mayor Azad Singh by the residents of Shahbad Daulatpur. The North corporation's Health department made efforts to find facts. Of the 10, it has been found that seven persons did not die of dengue. The remaining three cases are being examined," the corporation said.

Mayank Sharma, Additional Commissioner (Health), said one of those who died had been a tuberculosis patient and the other had pancreatic disease. Two others admitted at Safdarjung hospital had tested negative for dengue virus."

As a preventive measure, the North corporation has now deployed 3 TIFFA fogging machines (vehicle-mounted), nine fogging machines, 43 domestic breeding checkers, five anti-larvae teams and three mini power sprays. Four three-wheelers will spread awareness about dengue and its preventive measures, while two mobile dispensaries with eight members of medical staff will take measures to check the mosquito breeding in the Shahbad Daulatpur area and provide them treatment.

DDA invites feedback on Master Plan 2021 modifications

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has invited public suggestions and objections for modifications in Master Plan 2021 including highrise buildings.

"Buildings taller than 15m (without stilt) and 17.5m (including stilt) in all use zones will be considered as highrise buildings'', according to the notification. There is no provision for highrise buildings under the present Master Plan.

The notice further states that rooftops will be allowed to be used for construction of swimming pool, landscaping and related structures.

Other modifications for which suggestions and objections have been invited include change in the definition of hotel. This has been revised to "a premise having minimum 10 lettable rooms for lodging and boarding of 15 persons or more on short/long-term basis.''

The scope of activities permitted in hotels has been widened to include service apartments and residential units with or without transfer of ownership rights. Commercial offices, retail and service shops have been increased from 20% to 30% of floor area in hotels.

In international convention centres, the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) has been increased from 120 to 250 and the ground coverage has been increased from 30% to 60%. Also, hotels and related activities have been allowed in 40% of floor area.

"Public can respond to the notice within a period of 45 days,'' an official said.

In the case of international convention centres being constructed in plots of four hectares or more, the FAR shall be reduced by 10% and ground coverage by 5% for every 10 hectare increase. The minimum limit for FAR shall be 120% and ground coverage will be 30%.

Also, specific heritage complexes within the Walled City of Shahjahanabad and Lutyens' Bungalow Zone have been nominated by the government for inscription as 'Imperial Cities of Delhi in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Cities'. This modification is also proposed to be made in the chapter conservation of built heritage in the Master Plan.

Vocational training centres such as IT/polytechnic have been allowed on individual residential plots of 1,000 sqm and above.
