VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda) vice chairman N Yuvaraj has said that the proposed auction for allotment of Vuda row housing units and plots in various layouts of Vuda will be conducted as per schedule.

He said the auction of disposal of row housing projects at Rushikonda will be held on October 5 and for plots in various layouts on October 11 and 12. The last date for applying online for both the row houses and plots is September 30.

Those who want to apply online should submit the printouts along with the deposit amount by way of bank demand drafts before the date as no applications will be accepted beyond September, 30, he cautioned. "As on Monday, Vuda received 45 applications for the row housing projects and 272 for plots in layouts," Yuvaraj said.

According to him, three applications for three plots in Adibhatlanagar layout, two for one plot in Bheemili layout, 68 applications for 22 plots in Cyber Valley sector-I layout, 25 for 11 plots in Cyber Valley sector-II, two applications for one plot in Gandigundam layout, four applications for four plots in Chilukuri Joint Venture layout, three for three plots in Kurmannapalem layout, 54 applications for 17 plots in government lands layouts in Madhurawada, 93 applications for 24 plots in Vuda-Godavari joint venture layout in Narava, five applications for one plot in Babametta layout and 13 applications for four plots in Kanapaka Ayyannapeta layout of Vizianagaram have been received so far.

Yuvaraj said that as per rules, the auction and allotment will be cancelled in cases where only a single application has been received. He further stated that no application will be issued or received on the day of the auction. The auction process will be taken up unit wise and plot wise. Two persons on each application will be allowed to participate in the auction proceedings and the applicants have been advised to take printouts of auction slips from their online application.

Yuvaraj said the applicants will be informed on shortfalls, if any, in the applications from September 27 and the venue of the auction will be intimated to the applicants separately. Bank counters will be provided at the auction venue for payment of additional deposit amounts and spot payments, Yuvaraj said.

Varanasi Municipal Corporation takes step to revive Maatra Shishu Kalyan Kendra, Beniabagh

VARANASI: In a bid to revive Varanasi Municipal Corporation's (VMC) Maatra Shishu Kalyan Kendra (MSKK), Beniabagh, that has been lying defunct since the only doctor who served there retired eight months ago, the Khari Kuan family welfare centre has now been shifted to the premises of the Beniabagh MSKK.

Under the new arrangement, the in charge of the Khari Kuan health centre is given the additional charge of the MSKK that caters to the medical needs of a population of around 15,000 people of a locality. According to the city health officer Dr BN Chaubey, all the MSKK needed was a doctor under which the maternity facilities could be provided. The other staff was available there, including two ANMs. "The building where the Khari Kuan family welfare centre was being run was on rent and after the owner of the place asked to vacate the building, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it led us to make the new arrangement under which now both the facilities can work smoothly," Chaubey said.

Dr Sharda Singh who was incharge of the welfare centre of VMC has also been made the incharge of MSKK. The medicines and some additional equipment are to be provided at the MSKK to carry on the work of both the facilities. As a matter of fact the health department under the VMC is severely lacking on the qualified medical practitioners as there have been no new recruitment in the cadre for past several years forcing the local body to withdraw from all the important activities assigned to it through family welfare centres.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to set up citizen facilitation centres in 20 wards

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will be starting citizen facilitation centres (CFCs) in 20 wards of the municipal limits.

Municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi has prepared a 10-point programme to make the civic administration more "people-oriented", transparent and able to provide better facilities to PCMC citizens. One of the features of the 10-point programme is e-governance, under which the civic body proposes to start CFCs in all of its 64 wards.

The proposal for launching these centres will be discussed at the standing committee meeting on Tuesday. The proposal states that Pimpri Chinchwad is known as an industrial and educational hub, with large-scale growth in its urbanisation. The municipal commissioner has expressed the desire to create one CFC in each of the 64 wards in the city by developing open lands for providing basic amenities and international level services to the PCMC residents.

There are five such centres now, including four in each of the four zones and one at the central level at the municipal corporation. The services provided by PCMC as well as those provided by the Regional Transport Office(RTO), state transport, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), the police and the district collectorate will be available at these CFCs at fixed charges.

Uday Tekale, assistant commissioner and chief of the PCMC's administration department confirmed that the civic administration will be starting CFCs in 20 wards. "The civic body will be appointing an agency to execute the plan soon," Tekale said.
