Proposals to raise revenue of sagging income of AMC discussed

ALLAHABAD: Various important decisions were taken in the executive council meeting of Allahabad Municipal Corporation held on Wednesday. Several proposals for increasing the revenue of the sagging income of AMC were also discussed.

It was decided that monthly rent of AMC shops from Rs 4 per square feet should be increased to Rs 6 per square feet. For the month of Ramzan, members of executive council urged the municipal authorities for making proper arrangements of cleaning the roads and areas near mosques. The incharge of the streetlight department were urged to ensure proper illumination of the various lanes and bylanes of the city during the fasting month.

For finding the real state of affairs in the construction of roads under the 12th Finance Commission in which payments excess of the estimate were made, a committee comprising of corporators Umesh Dwivedi, Shiv Sewak Singh and Mahaveer Yadav has been formed. This committee would submit its report within 15 days.

Under the Solid Waste Management Scheme, it was decided that no service charge would be imposed on the denizens unless arrangements o personnel for collection of garbage from door to door is not made.

Explanation was also sought from the authorities concerned for the poor maintenance of Guriya Talab. It was decided that this Talab would be handed over to a private party for its proper maintenance.

It was also decided that pending salaries to the staff of streetlight department would be made.

In the executive council meeting, mayor Chowdhary Jitendra Nath Singh, municipal commissioner Ashok Kumar, health officer Arun Kumar, SL Yadav , legal advisor, corporators Shiv Sewak Singh, Umesh Dwivedi, Athar Raza ladley, Nafees Anwar, Mahaveer yadav, Sushil yadav and others were present.
