Distribution of funds for wards irk councillors
Allegations are rife that Rs 1.51 crore granted by the 13th finance commission has been distributed among only a few wards in the action plan without taking into consideration the needs of other wards.
The plan has to be created considering basic amenities required in various wards. But the action plan has not taken these factors into consideration, alleged member Nanjundappa.
When Chikanna was president in-charge, the action plan had been prepared. However, it was not presented before the Council for approval, he said. It has not been notified to any of the members, he added.
Solid waste management
According to available reports, development works for solid waste disposal management has been awarded Rs 60.95 lakh. A sum of Rs 22.78 lakh has been awarded for repairing street lights.
Construction of drains from Karasawadi Road to Haniyambadi Road has been granted Rs 45.35 lakh, renovation of Town Hall and park in Chamundeshwari Nagar has been released Rs 7.59 lakh and Rs 15.19 lakh respectively.
Nanjundappa questioned that problems abound in other wards also, but why isn’t the issue being discussed in the general body meeting of the council.President Arunkumar said that the issue will be brought before the council on October 6. However, more than 15 members have requested postponement of the general body meeting as it falls on day of Mahalaya Amavasya Day.
