Civic body recovers `10.36 lakh

 LUDHIANA: The municipal corporation officials of house tax and operation and maintenance departments recovered Rs 10.36 Lakh from the defaulters on Monday.

The house tax department recovered around Rs 5 lakh from the 11 defaulters out of 13 owners of commercial properties in various parts of the city. The officials sealed two buildings — one situated on Mall Road from where the authorities had to recover around Rs 4.27 L and the other at Hambran Road, from where around Rs 66,000 is pending. Authorities would auction these properties.

Meanwhile, the operation and maintenance department recovered around Rs 5.36 lakh from the defaulters. The drive was conducted in Industrial Area A, Tajpur Road Dairy Complex, Textile Colony, Sarabha Nagar and Kapil Park. The officials also snapped eight sewerage connections from Sarabha Nagar and Kapil Park.

Municipal corporation commissioner AK Sinha said residents should clear their dues related to house tax, besides water and sewerage charges or the violators would have to face sealing of their properties and snapping of water or sewerage lines.
