Chandigarh :  The issue of availability of adequate funds for departments that have been recently transferred from the UT Administration to the Municipal Corporation (MC) was taken up at the Coordination Committee meeting between the MC and Administration.

Councillors have repeatedly raised concerns over the issue of availability of adequate funds for the departments. The transferred departments include primary health, primary education, greenbelts and V-3 roads.

Administration officials had stated that with the departments transferred to the civic body, the budget provided for the departments by the Centre would no longer be available. The MC would have to raise the issue with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in order to ensure that adequate funds are available.

Another issue raised at the meeting was that all V-3 roads be transferred to the civic body. It had earlier been stated that roads with names like path, marg, etc would not be transferred. The Mayor has now asked for all the roads to be transferred and an amendment made in the notification.
