Tractor to collect door-to-door waste

Madikeri, August 4, DHNS:

Speaking after inaugurating the facility, he said to make Madikeri clean city, under 12th Finance Commission, a tractor was purchased at a cost of Rs 6 lakh. Earlier, the wastes were collected through tipper. There are 10 tippers in Madikeri.

The work on the collection of wastes along with seggregation of solid and plastic from commercial complexes, building, hotels and kalyana mantaps along with houses have been given to Chandana Sthree Shakti Group. The wastes will be collected through tractors at Ganapathi road, Mahadevapete road, G T Road, College Road, Convent areas, Gowli beedi, Pension lane, Temple road, Dasavala road, Race Course Road and other places.

The public should co-operate with the Sthree Shakti members. The fee fixed for collecting wastes was for below 1,000 square feet building—Rs 10, above 1,000 square feet builidngs—Rs 15, commercial complexes—Rs 30, Rs 250 from hotel, kalyana mantapa and nursing homes, he added. CMC Vice President Latha Bangera, in-charge commissioner Sadananda and others were present.
