State Government to initiate sanitation programmes in Puri

The State Government has decided to initiate a project of Rs 26 to 36 crore under which it will adopt new systems to filter drain water of Puri. In order to make the city clean and beautiful, the Government has decided to take up various sanitary programmes soon.
The decisions were taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat.
In the meeting, the Government decided to take up two new systems — Activated Sludge Process and Aerated Lagoon System — for filtering drain water at Banki Mouth. After filtering the drain water at the mouth, it would be ejected to the sea, a resolution issued from the Chief Minister’s Office said.
Besides, two separate projects have been taken up for treatment of drain water (sewerage system) and rain water (drainage system) in the city. Construction of a drain project from Sata Lahadi Math to Chaitanya Math is going also on and would be completed soon. Similarly, road side shops have been lifted from Digabarini to Swarga Dwar. A special squad has been constituted to check the cleaning of sea-shore sands.
Among others, ADC RN Senapaty, Principal Secretary to CM BK Patnaik and Urban Development Secretary AK Panda were present.
